Landscape characterisation represents a way of describing the uniqueness of the landscape which is used for developing landscape strategies, design statements, environmental impact assessments and management plans. It can be a particularly useful tool for developers and architects in minimising the impact of development and devising sensitive landscaping schemes.Landscape character is an important aspect of local distinctiveness and we can assist with the development of local distinctiveness strategies.
We have experience of the national Countryside Character Network Framework and more local landscape character assessment using the Landscape Character Network Guidelines. We are also able to undertake sensitivity analysis and condition assessment of local landscape types.
